Florida-Specific Considerations
Florida's Medicare Advantage market offers strong dental/vision/hearing benefits:
- Many $0 premium plans include substantial dental benefits
- Hearing aid allowances of $2,500+ available in some plans
- Vision networks include major Florida optical chains
Making Your Decision
Evaluate Your Needs
- How often do you need dental work?
- Do you wear glasses or contacts?
- Do you have hearing loss requiring aids?
Compare Costs
- Medicare Advantage: What dental/vision/hearing is included?
- Standalone insurance: What's the premium plus cost-sharing?
- Out-of-pocket: What would services cost without insurance?
Check Providers
- Are your dentist, optometrist, and audiologist in-network?
- Are there quality providers nearby?
The Bottom Line
Original Medicare's exclusion of dental, vision, and hearing coverage is a significant gap. Medicare Advantage often provides the most convenient solution, bundling these benefits with your health coverage. If you prefer Original Medicare, standalone insurance or discount plans can help.
